Chemical Engineering

Andrew hails from Pelham, New Hampshire. As an undergraduate he developed his appreciation for interdisciplinary research spending three summers working in a variety of disciplines. Beginning at Auburn University he conducted biosensor research through a NSF-REU grant. The following summer was spent at St. Lawrence University funded by a Stradling fellowship. He worked to add beta-thujone to the list of chiral reagents available to the art of synthetic organic chemistry. Most recently he researched carbon sequestration and mineralization at Columbia University funded by a DOE- ARPA-E grant. Andrew truly established his passion for carbon science while taking classes with Professor Klaus Lackner at Columbia University. Now working toward his doctorate degree at the Bredesen Center, Andrew hopes to study liquid fuel synthesis and discover sustainable pathways to close the carbon loop.
